Jumpy Hoots: What is it and how to play?
Jumpy Hoots is a fast-paced, vertical pixel-art platformer. Your main goal is to survive as long as possible and climb as high as you can by jumping from platform to platform and bouncing off various objects. The higher you climb, the more points you will add to your "Bank," which you can use in the shop to customize your Hoot.
Controls:
Your character jumps automatically every time it touches a platform or an object. Your only task is to guide it in the air:
On Mobile/Tablets:
Tap the left half of the screen to move left, and the right half to move right.
On PC:
Use the arrow keys (Left/Right) or the A and D keys.
Pro-tip:
If you go off one side of the screen, you will magically appear on the opposite side. Use this to your advantage to reach distant objects!
Obstacles and Enemies
During your ascent, not everything will be friendly. These are the dangers that will affect your score or end your run:
The Void (Gravity):
If you miss a jump and fall below the bottom limit of the screen, the game ends automatically (Game Over).
The Enemy (Dark Hoot):
Appears periodically once you reach certain scores. This enemy will chase you across the screen.
Effect:
If it catches you, it will cause an explosion that shakes the screen and deducts 450 points from your current score. It disappears after hitting you, but you must regain your fast rhythm immediately to avoid falling.
Map Objects (Collectibles)
While jumping, you will find items that help you climb higher and score points:
Coin:
Grants 5 points and a normal jump boost.
Green Gem:
Grants 15 points and a super bounce, launching you much higher.
Magnet:
Grants 5 points and a normal jump, but activates a magnetic field for 4.2 seconds that pulls all nearby coins and stars toward you.
Balloon:
Grants 15 points and turns you into a giant for 10 seconds, making it much easier to hit platforms and collect items.
The Shop (Hoot Store)
Body Skins (Body Colors and Styles)
Customize the main appearance of your character. These range from free basic colors to camouflaged and special designs.
Pure Cosmetics:
Red, Purple, Blue, Green, Gold, White, Pink, Brown, Turquoise, Black, Multi Color, Black & White, Camo (Jungle, Desert, Winter), Panda, and Zombie.
GHOST (Cost: 65,000 PTS):
SPECIAL ABILITY! By equipping this ghostly (partially transparent) skin, you become immune to point loss. If the enemy touches you, it will cause the explosion, but it will not deduct the 450 points.
Beak & Talons Colors
Allow you to change the color of the owl's details (Orange, Black, Gold, Brown, Diamond, Grey). Prices range between 0 and 15,000 PTS.
Headwear
Add a fun touch to your character's head. Includes options like frog or crocodile hats, beanies, crowns (gold, silver, bronze), glowing halos, panda ears, paper boats, and even a flaming head (Fire Head).
Eyewear
Sunglasses, colored glasses, heart-shaped glasses, and aviator goggles.
Power Ups (Equippable Upgrades)
DRAGON WINGS (Cost: 150,000 PTS):
MASSIVE SPECIAL ABILITY! By equipping Dragon Wings, you gain two huge benefits:
Rocket Start:
At the start of each game, you will automatically launch upward for the first 4 seconds, skipping the initial part of the level.
